The Cat Rescue of Maryland, Inc’s primary mission is assisting the caretakers of feral (wild) cat colonies who want to do TNR. That means they trap the cats, have them tested for FELV and FIV, vaccinated and altered. Their role is supplying equipment and funding for the vet bills, as well as moral support and information. Whenever possible, kittens and strays are placed in carefully screened adoptive homes (they wait at their vet or in foster homes until they are placed). Feral adults are returned to the colony.

Cold Nose Warm Heart Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs and cats from high-kill shelters. Through their network of committed volunteers and foster homes they are able to rescue, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well matched, thoroughly screened forever homes. We also provide our adopters and the community with information on responsible pet ownership, including spay-neuter, training and good nutrition.

The shelter, which is unique in its policies, was started from absolutely nothing. As of 2018, they have adopted out 30,529 animals since opening the facility. Several animal protective laws exist today, thanks in great part to Defenders of Animal Rights.

Tara’s House is a non-profit organization and an “all-breed” dog rescue. Their mission is to rescue and provide care and compassion for pets while working to place them in permanent loving homes. The pets arrive at Tara’s House from high kill shelters, many with little to no funding for their own adoption programs. These shelters rely on Tara’s House to save these adoptable pets from certain euthanasia.
